How to Get Access to a Client's X Ads Account
The fast way: one ClientInvite link
There's no way to request X Ads access from your side, so the whole job rests on your client finding the right page. Your link takes them there and presets the level.
Generate Your Access Link
In your ClientInvite dashboard, select 'X Ads' and generate your secure request link.
- Add the X handle your client should invite
- Request every other platform in the same link
- Copy the X Ads request link

Send the Link to Your Client
Share the secure link with your client via email, Slack, or anywhere else.
- No sign-in needed for this step
- No client passwords shared or stored, ever
- The client can remove access at any time
Client Sends the Invite
Your link shows your client your X handle, opens the right X Ads settings page, and tells them to invite you as Ad manager.
- Three short steps with a visual guide
- The role is preset to Ad manager, so nobody guesses
- The ad account appears under Switch accounts in X Ads
- 1Copy the agency's X handle@youragencyCopy
- 2Open the people settings in XOpen X Ads
- 3Invite it with the Ad manager roleInvite sent to @youragency
How to add a user to an X Ads account manually
If your client prefers to do it without a link, send them these steps. They need to be an Account administrator on the ads account.
- 01
Sign in to X Ads as an Account administrator
Go to ads.x.com. Only an Account administrator can add people to an ads account.
- 02
Open Edit access to account
Click the account name in the top right and choose Edit access to account.
- 03
Click Add access
On the multi-user login page, click Add access.
- 04
Enter the handle and choose an access level
Enter the agency's X handle, choose an access level (Ad manager suits most agencies), and turn on Can compose promotable posts if they will write ads. Click Save changes.
- 05
The agency opens the ad account
X notifies that account, and the ad account appears under Switch accounts when the agency signs in to X Ads with its own login.
Why agencies automate this instead
“Edit access to account” hides behind the account name, and the access levels aren't obvious. One ClientInvite link opens X Ads, shows your handle, presets Ad manager, and collects Meta and Google ads in the same visit. See ClientInvite pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ad manager suits most agencies: it can create and edit campaigns but cannot change billing or give other people access. Account administrator adds user management. Campaign analyst can view performance only. ClientInvite asks for Ad manager.
X's Ads API can only read the access its caller already has; it can't add users. So ClientInvite guides your client: your link shows them your X handle to copy, opens X Ads, and tells them to add you as Ad manager.
No. X has no way to request access to an ads account. An Account administrator has to add you, which is why a clear link to send matters.

Yes. Delegate access to the X account is a separate invite, and ClientInvite guides your client through both in one link.
