How to Get Access to a Client's Pinterest Ad Account
The fast way: one ClientInvite link
Swapping Business IDs and chasing partner invites is the slowest part of starting a Pinterest client. With ClientInvite, your client signs in once and the partnership is set up and accepted for you.
Generate Your Access Link
Connect your Pinterest business once in ClientInvite, then select 'Pinterest Ads' and generate your secure request link.
- Choose the access level: Admin or Analyst
- Add Meta, Google, Shopify and more to the same link
- Copy the request link

Send the Link to Your Client
Share the secure access link with your client via email, Slack, or anywhere else.
- 100% secure and user-friendly process
- No client passwords stored, ever
- The client can revoke access at any time
Client Signs In With Pinterest
Your client signs in with Pinterest and picks the ad account. ClientInvite adds your business as a partner and accepts the invite for you.
- No Business IDs to send back and forth
- The ad account appears in your Pinterest Business Hub
- An existing partnership just gets the new ad account
How to give Pinterest ad account access manually in Business Access
If your client prefers to share access themselves, here is the partner flow. Both sides need a Pinterest business account, and your client needs admin access to the business that owns the ad account. Menu labels shift as Pinterest updates Business Access, so match the closest option in your account.
- 01
Get the agency's Pinterest Business ID
Ask your agency for its Pinterest Business ID. They can find it in their own Business Access settings, shown under their business name.
- 02
Open Business Access
Log in to the Pinterest business account that owns the ad account and open Business Access from the account menu. You need to be an admin of that business.
- 03
Add the agency as a partner
Go to Partners, click Add partner, paste the Business ID, and choose to give the partner access to your assets.
- 04
Choose the ad account and permission level
Select the ad account, pick a permission level such as Admin or Analyst, and confirm.
- 05
The agency accepts the invite
Pinterest notifies the agency. Once they accept the partnership in their Business Access, the ad account appears in their business and they can assign their own team.
Alternative: add a person instead of a partner
A freelancer without their own Pinterest business can be added as an employee of the client's business instead, then given the ad account. This ties access to one person rather than your agency, so most agencies prefer the partner method.
Why agencies automate this instead
The manual flow means finding Business IDs, walking your client through Business Access, and waiting for someone to accept the partner invite. With ClientInvite, one sign-in does all of it, and the same link covers Meta, Google, TikTok and Shopify. See ClientInvite pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions
With ClientInvite you choose Admin or Analyst when you create the link. Admin can run and change campaigns; Analyst can view performance and reporting but not make changes.
Your client signs in with Pinterest on your link and picks the ad account. ClientInvite uses Pinterest's Business Access API to invite your business as a partner on that ad account, assign it, accept the invite with your connected login, and confirm Pinterest lists it under the partnership. If you're already partners, the ad account is simply added.
No. Pinterest only lets business accounts share access. If your client signs in with a personal account, they need to convert it to a business account in Pinterest (Settings, Account management) or switch to the business account that owns the ad account.
Not with ClientInvite. The manual partner method needs your Business ID passed to the client; with ClientInvite your Pinterest business is connected once and used on every link.
Yes. Your client can remove the partnership or the ad account at any time in their Pinterest Business Access settings. Because access lives in Pinterest, you also keep it if you cancel ClientInvite.
You can also request access to your client's Pinterest business profile in the same link, plus Meta, Google, TikTok, Shopify, Klaviyo and more.
